Books I have read over the last month

It is hard sometimes for me to get motivated to read things that are not directly pertaining to my current classes I am taking at Parker College of Chiropractic. However, the Christmas break found me motivated to do some reading. I will give you a list of the books and a brief review below.

The 4 Hour Body by Tim Ferriss - Great book. Very interesting read for those interested in Tim Ferriss' 10-12 year journey of learning and creating ways to achieve optimal results with the human body in the areas of weight loss, gaining muscle mass, improving sleep, getting rid of and preventing injuries, improving sex, achieving amazing strength, holding your breath under water, & hitting a baseball farther. With 500+ pages it can be a long read for some. I found myself intrigued my his methods and results.
2 Thumbs UP

The Maker's Diet by Jordan Rubin - Another great book. It tells the story of Jordan's battle with Crohn's disease and how he overcame it. This book thoroughly explains what the Bible teaches us about nutrition and clean living. At the end of the book it provides information about how to find all of the products and how to make certain foods that he discusses throughout the book. I found this book very informative & helpful.
2 Thumbs UP

That's my book review for now. Anything else I read will probably deal with school and have to wait to be reviewed another day.

If you are looking for something to read, I highly recommend grabbing these 2 books:
The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss
The Maker's Diet by Jordan

Easy Tip for Quick & Healthy Weight Loss

Many people trying to lose weight hit a plateau & become very frustrated with themselves. One thing that I have done successfully in the past with myself and my clients is to cut out breads, pastas, & rice, no matter how healthy, from my diet. The breads I eat are sprouted grain breads like Ezekiel Bread. The pasta I eat is brown rice pasta. I also like to occasionally eat brown rice. None the less, I have found that when my clients and I cut these things completely out of our diet and replace them with fruits and vegetables, the weight loss is almost immediate & easy to maintain. I have noticed that I feel better and less lethargic when I do this.

How long should you eat like this? As long as you want. I often revert back to eating Ezekiel Bread, brown rice pasta, & brown rice simply because I like almond butter sandwiches, my wife's vegetarian lasagna, & Mexican dishes with rice.

The next time you are stuck in a rut with your weight loss, try this trick to jump start your efforts. Give it a try for 2 weeks and see what it does for your body.

Secrets for Success

I want to provide you with 5 little tips that can be the secrets to success in your life, business, or health this year.

1 - Take BEFORE photos, make charts or graphs
Before photos will motivate you to take action and remind you of why you are taking action. This can be a great motivational tool for you.

2 - Take Measurements
Circumference measurements, body fat % measurements, profit margin, etc. Whatever it is, pick something that can be measured to track your progress and measure it. Make it simple & start out with 2 areas that you will measure & track. Set a date, i.e. once a week or month, & re-measure.

3 - Find a program that will help get you the results you want
Find an exercise program, nutrition plan, or business model that you think can take you in the right direction & follow it.

4 - Record what you do
Write down every action you take to reach your goal & the date you do it. After 1 month, review your actions & compare them to the measurements to see if your actions are achieving the desired results. If they are, you are on the right path. If they are NOT, consider changing you plan of action, exercise program, etc.

5 - Do it TOGETHER
Find a friend or colleague who is seeking similar goals & hold each other accountable for performing certain tasks. You can even make it a competition to see results the fastest.

Try these 5 tips ASAP to make 2011 your best year ever.
